Ah, technology… What would we do without it? Love it or hate it, technological devices are becoming increasingly present in our daily lives.
Smartphones have certainly changed the way we communicate, and with it comes interesting cultural differences in the way people from all parts of the globe use them.
Malaysians certainly have unique, funny ways they use technology, which is why we decided to come up with a list of those things!
1. Pretending to text when you’re alone in public
When your friends are all working on their Malaysian timing and you’re the only one to arrive at a destination, you know what’s next – reaching for your trusty phone so you can look less alone and sad!
2. MUST have the latest phone as soon as it comes out
How many of us are total tech geeks and are always updated with the latest phone trends? Guilty as charged! And you know that when the next cool phone is launched, you’ll be one of the crowd eagerly waiting for it to hit the market!
And we heard that Huawei P10 has been launched with a whole range of awesome specifications.
Just look at the crowd excitedly waiting to get their hands on it!
3. Lifting your phone higher, thinking you’ll get better reception
We don’t know why, but it seems like everyone thinks that lifting their phones up to the sky will give them better reception!
Interestingly enough, we heard there’s a new phone out there that gives much better reception with Quad Antennas, so you can actually give your arm a rest from all the reception-hunting!
4. Creeping on good-looking strangers
Imagine this scenario: you’re hanging out with your friends and you notice a hot guy/girl in the distance. Because we’re Asians and just going up to talking to them isn’t something we commonly do, we’ll just have to resort to our ninja skills.
Whether it’s pretending to take your friend’s picture or faking a selfie (in a way the hottie would “happen” to be in the background), we all can be honest and say that we have done it before! Then later, be a creep and zoom in on their picture. Muahaha!
Did you know Huawei’s P10 has an Adaptive Selfie mode which detects groufies and automatically switches to wide-angle shots when more people enter the picture? Can secretly squeeze the hottie’s face in your camera with this mode too! 😉
5. Dressing up your phone in different casings because you are bored of the colour
It seems that all the phones nowadays comes in the same old boring black, white, and silver colours only. But you’re sick of that and want something different for a change. So you buy a different casing for your phone to make sure it looks good.
But you don’t have to do that anymore if you buy the Huawei P10! That’s because they come in eight gorgeous colours for you to choose from. And two of the colours were designed in collaboration with Pantone, the Dazzling Blue and Greenery, so you know that you’ll be having the most fashionable phone among your friends!
6. Texting your friend who’s right next to you when you want to secretly gossip about someone in public
Maybe it’s about a colleague that’s annoying, or a friend who’s super cute, we’ve all secretly texted to our buddies before. Not to mention while doing that, we’ll have to keep a straight face on.
7. Letting our phones ‘eat’ before we do
Malaysians are huge foodies, but our phones are even bigger foodies. You can’t blame us when Malaysia has the best food and we need to document them all before digging in!
Especially when newer phones like the P10 have amazingly high-quality Leica lenses (20 and 12 megapixels man!), making them superior to other major phones like the iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+.
Speaking of taking pictures, we occasionally even resort to this:
At least with a ROM of 64GB and 128GB on the P10, you can snap snap snap away at those tasty food and not having to worry that your memories will be quickly used up!
8. Violently tapping or screaming to our device while playing games
But you won’t have to stress about depleting batteries because the P10 series go up to 3750mAh while other flagship phones are at 3500mAh.
What’s more, they are both equipped with Super Charge technology, making their charging time twice as fast as other popular phones currently on the market. Now we don’t have to wait super long for our phones to finish charging!
And after all those amazing features, these phones are sold for as low as RM2,499, making them way more affordable than most Android phones out there!
Looks like it’s time to ditch that iPhone or Samsung S8, then!
