It’s fascinating how far some people can go without taking into consideration the laws and the consequences.
In a recent operation on the road conducted by JPJ in Selangor, they stopped a luxury car driver after noticing something odd about the road tax. After further inspection, JPJ found out that the BMW X6 driver had been driving on the road WITHOUT valid road insurance and an expired road tax for 7 YEARS!
The driver was stopped on the Grand Sepadu Highway heading towards Bukit Raja, according to JPJ’s post on its FB page.
Now, what happens when you’re caught driving without a valid road tax insurance?
According to JPJ, in accordance with Section 90 of the Road Transportation Act 1987, driving without valid insurance is an offense, which is punishable by a fine of NOT more than RM1,000, or face jail time of not more than 3 months.
JPJ confiscated the luxury car and brought it to the JPJ office in Shah Alam.
According to JPJ, the luxury car was driven by a 59-year-old Malaysian man, who told the authorities that he was merely driving for short distances, and bought the vehicle without changing names.
Shockingly, this was not the only luxury car that JPJ had in their disposal
In another post, JPJ revealed that in another operation, another luxury car driver was also stopped for a similar reason – road tax that has been expired since December 2023, and invalid insurance.
It’s not that hard to renew your road tax every year. Keep this in mind – it’s even more troublesome when you’re caught violating the laws.
