When you’re a public figure, all eyes are on you, especially when you’re violating the laws. An X user recently shared pictures of a vehicle that belongs to Young Syefura, the member of parliament for Bentong, Pahang, with the car registration plate RAR4 that violated the rules set by JPJ.

“So called member of parliament,” the user said.

Netizens who saw the images were urging JPJ to take action and issue a summon to the MP as a lesson.

“Hello JPJ, somebody is not following the spec for the registration number.”

“Ministers or not, the laws should apply to everyone. That’s a fancy plate.”

The tweet was shared on Saturday morning (February 24), and it didn’t take long for Syefura to respond to the viral images of her car. On the same day, she responded to the images via her tweet @youngsyefura and said that those were recycled old photos.

“JPJ took action, so why dig out old matters?”

In her response, Syefura clarified the pictures with the illegal registration plates were taken a while back without disclosing a specific time frame. However, the Bentong MP clarified to netizens and said that JPJ had since taken action against her for the registration plates that did not follow the given specs.

“JPJ had issued a notice to me, and I had since changed my registration plates based on the specs given by them.”

Syefura admitted that she was wrong for not following the rules in modifying the registration plates, and she asked netizens not to defame any parties.

“Doin’t point the fingers at JPJ and defame them. They did take action against me.”

In her tweet, Syefura was also baffled to see others digging up old “memories” and made it an issue when the matter had been settled a long time ago.

“Why are you recycling an old issue? These are the registration plates for my current vehicles.”

Now that Syefura has shared the story from her side, we hope everyone can be wary before posting or sharing anything online without fact-checking.
