As an alpha figure, a father may rarely express his love verbally, but he certainly has his ways to show his kids how much they mean to him. A Malaysian father recently showed his love by giving his 23-year-old son a second chance to live, and here’s how he did it.
He donated his kidney to his son, who was in dire need of the organ after he was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease.
In a report by Sinar Harian, the 56-year-old Rosly Delniah was persistent in saving his son’s life, to which the latter hesitated because the father is also suffering from thyroid disease, not to mention his old age.
His son, Muhamad Firdaus Rosly, had been suffering from the disease for more than a year, and things were tough for him when the doctor told him that a kidney transplant was the best way. However, there was a catch.
“If I said no to the surgery, I would be risking my life. Unfortunately, my waiting list for a kidney transplant could be as long as 20 years.”
Rosly did not want to prolong the wait, so he decided to help his son, which came with a lot of sadness amidst the relief.
It took the duo a year before the transplant could happen due to the procedures, and Firdaus shed tears of happiness.
“I was sad because I felt like I had not reciprocated my father’s love. I apologised to my father because I felt like I had made many mistakes.”
Rosly, however, told Firdaus that it was okay because, as a father, he was willing to do anything for his son.
The surgery, which took place in November, was a huge success, and Firdaus could not thank his father enough. Without him, he couldn’t have lived like how he used to, and the son has a plan in terms of repaying his father.
“I want to make my parents happy and proud, and I want to take them to Mecca to perform the pilgrimage. Thank you, mum and dad. It’s my second chance to live.”
A father’s love, just like a mother’s, knows no bounds.
