Over the weekend, Malaysian celebrity chef Khairul Aming was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed.
According to his friends, Khairul did not have enough rest after he started his mission – helping flood victims in Kelantan by distributing food and finding essential supplies for them. In his tweet this morning (December 12), Khairul finally had the opportunity to share what happened to him that led to his admission into the hospital.
“I had diarrhoea for 5 days”
In his tweet, Khairul said that he was just discharged from the hospital after, and revealed that he was infected with the E. Coli bacteria during his work to help the flood victims.
It was not easy for him, both mentally and physically as the celebrity chef had to experience severe symptoms when he was ill.
“I had diarrhoea for 5 days to the point that I was dehydrated.”
Thankfully, he is fully recovered and back to work, as shared in his tweet.
Before the tweet this morning, Khairul’s last tweet was from December 6, in which he shared pictures of distributing food to the flood victims in Kelantan, where he worked until midnight.
During one of his TikTok live sessions, Khairul listed down the essential needs that the flood victims needed and sought help from kind Malaysians to send those supplies into the state.
In case you are not aware, E. Coli is often harmless but can still cause illness with the most common symptoms being diarrhoea and vomiting. The bacteria is often found in water, food and the environment, as explained via CDC’s official website.
At the time of writing, the flood condition in Kelantan has recovered, with NO MORE flood victims in the state. The condition has also vastly improved in Terengganu, with only 222 flood victims left.
To Khairul and all other good samaritans who have helped the flood victims, we sincerely thank you for your efforts!
