Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director John Sagun Francis said they received an emergency call at 9:21 PM, with a fire engine from the Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene eight minutes later, as reported by Sinar Harian.

He added that the victim had already been freed by members of the public before the fire brigade arrived.
