Recently, the food truck scene is sweeping across the country (Klang Valley in particular) making its way to colleges, office buildings and road sides to offer a brand new and creative way of dining. It’s compact yet mobile kitchen + restaurant make it a unique experience for anyone with a hungry stomach!

1. La Famiglia

Craving for some pasta? La Famiglia is here to satisfy your gastronomic appetites with their very affordable dishes at RM6.50. If you’re like me (having constant dilemma whether to get the carbonara or bolognese), why not have the best of both worlds and order their ‘The Boss’ pasta topped with a combination of carbonara and bolognese sauce! This Mafia themed food truck are usually spotted around Jalan Dungun (infront of HELP) for lunch and at Subang Jaya SS15 (in front of Espresso Lab) every night.

2. Little Fat Duck
If you’re familiar with SS15, you will notice this food truck parked across RT Bakery, visible from the main road. Do note that they have now moved their location to Pasar Modern MBSJ, just behind Public Bank (what to do being restaurant on wheels huh?). Anyway, Little Fat Duck is another popular food truck offering pastas at a bargain with their dishes ranging about RM5 and they are open from 8pm to 12pm daily for dinner and supper.

3. Burger Giler Power
Citizens in Taman Melawati and Ampang, go look out for this food truck to experience the burger bomb! Open every Thursday to Saturday from 5pm-10pm, Burger Giler Power brings burger tasting to a whole new level. They offer a variety of burgers such as Classic Cheese Burger (beef with cheddar cheese and spicy garlic aioli), Cajun Chicken Burger (Chicken with special cajun spice) and the Chief Burger (combination of beef and chicken). Moreover, Burger Giler Power prepares delicious side dishes too.
Location: near 4 Jalan Bandar 3, Taman Melawati, Melawati,

4. The Laughing Monkey
With the cafe scene mushrooming non-stop in Klang Valley, The Laughing Monkey tops them by being a cafe on wheels! Grab a cup of freshly brewed coffee and handmade sandwiches before work and don’t be swayed thinking that their beverages will fall short than normal cafes as their hot chocolate and coffee will drive you bananas! This truck can be often seen monkeying around Menara Millenium (nearby HELP college), Jaya One and Damansara Uptown.

5. Cowboys Food Truck
Look out for these cowboys riding (not horses) but a truck around SS15, TTDI and Damansara Uptown. Cowboys Food Truck sells a variety of filling meat platters, Americano style not to mention they are halal as well. A must try is their basic po-boy sandwich which isn’t really basic, but served with thick slices of slow-smoked beef brisket with slaw & chipotle mayo in home-made crusty loaves.

6. Babarittos Delight
Babarittos Delight is a food truck founded by a young entrepreneur, Hafiey Mughnie Amran, who loves street food since his college days. Selling burrito wraps and nachos, he found it a great selection of western food for Malaysian folks. Look out for the pink truck (or purple however you perceived it) which operates around Setapak, serving from 5pm till late.

7. Flaming Wheels
Started up initially to raise funds for Make-A-Wish foundation, this food truck has gained popularity not only from their sleek exterior but also from serving a mixture of gourmet local and international dishes. Choices of buffalo wings, lamb meatballs, tandoori chicken and a variety of burgers, sandwiches and pastas will entice your palates, priced around RM7-RM12 GST included. The food truck roams throughout Klang Valley, usually stopping by universities and catering to events.

8. Curbside Cantina
As it’s name suggests, Curbside Cantina is a Mexican influenced food truck that serves your favourite Mehico meals on-the-go. With tacos, nachos, chillies fries and churros on the menu, there’s no stopping this Mexican heat from taking over KL. Be sure to try out their most sought after dishes such as the Chicken Quesa-Tacos, Fish Tacos and Beef Tacos.

9. Negative Celsius
Have you seen anything more magical than this? These colourful ice cream filled macaroons are literally eye candy that has been sweeping social media since their launch last month! Be sure to grab them quick because Negative Celsius only 300 pairs of these sweet treats are sold everyday and they are known to sell out fast!

10. The Boys Food
One can’t help but marvel at The Boys Food’s sloppy food presentations that appeal too much to our Malaysian eyes. Feast your eyes on their generous coating of cheesy sauce, chilli con carne, mayo and other condiments that makes it finger licking good, literally. Their pastas, burger, sandwiches and hotdogs are available at only RM5 which begs the question whether to give in and have a sinfully delicious second serving.
Location: Bank Muamalat, Jalan 6/4, Taman Desa Melawati

11. Royal Post
Besides their beautifully packaged beverages and awesomely designed truck, Royal Post’s freshly made brew with strong lingering coffee aromas will give you the boost you need to start your day. They open as early as 7.30am dedicated to give you your daily coffee fix and also serve sandwiches with your choice of Panini, oregano or charcoal bread. Price ranges from RM4-RM11.
Location: Usually spotted around Menara Millenium and Plaza OSK along Jalan Ampang.

12. SpagMe

Operating as early as 7.30am, SpagMe serves breakfast meals and pastas catered to workers around Jalan Dungun and HELP students. Their menu is kept simple with a choice of 7 dishes and price ranges about RM6.50 to RM12.80. We highly recommend their Spag Tempura Fish!

13. Wheeloaf

Wheeloaf’s sandwiches are kept crispy on the outside, yet juicy and succulent on the inside. They have been receiving very good responses from customers who begged from seconds! Try out their much desired Beef Panini, The Great Dan and Gargasm Chicken Panini. Price ranges about RM6.90 to RM12.90.

14. OMFJ!

Prefer a healthier option? Or perhaps looking for something to wash down those pasta and burgers with? OMFJ (Oh My Fruit Juice) is your mobile juice stand that offers freshly squeezed fruit juices. It is often found in Millennium B2 Carpark, PBD and their price range from RM8 to RM9.50.

15. Guac!

Guac! Food Truck is a mexican inspired truck where their choice for burritos and tacos will spoil you. Choose among beef, fish or chicken as your filling then take a huge bite and savour every bite. The wraps may be a little thick to the taste but their beef burritos and shrimp tacos are worth a try.
Location: TTDI (across Tom, Dick & Harry’s) or Damansara Uptown (across Wondermilk)

16. Oishi Bento

What?? Even Japanese food is now on wheels! Oishi bento offers a good range of lunch meals from Chicken Karaage, Beef/Chicken/Salmon Teriyaki, Temppanyaki and Japanese Curry Chicken/Beef! They are a little hard to catch as they usually roam about the streets of Klang Valley.
