All schools located in red zones will be closed starting today (8 October) until 23 October as ordered by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

In a statement released on 7 October, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said that all schools in the districts of Klang in Selangor state, and in the districts of Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran in Sabah will be closed following the resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the past week.

This involves a total of 142 schools in the Klang district and a total of 242 schools in the three districts in Sabah, according to Harian Metro.

“This number includes primary and secondary schools under the MOE as well as private schools registered with the MOE,” the statement said.

“Schools that have hostels, including Vocational Colleges, are also closed. Parents or guardians need to pick up students who live in the hostels to go home.”

Here’s the list of schools in Klang affected by this move:

81602111350 Freesize

61602111365 Freesize 71602111375 Freesize

81602111383 Freesize

However, students who are waiting to be picked up by their parents or students who want to remain in the school dormitory and Vocational College during the school closing period will remain under the care of the hostel warden.

“The food and drink needs of students during the period will be provided by the school,” it said.

“During the closing period of this school, principals and headmasters will ensure that teachers and students implement teaching and learning at home according to the suitability of teachers and students.”

Meanwhile, teaching and learning materials can be downloaded from the official KPM portal at www.moe.gov.my.

“For most schools that are currently conducting the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) trial examination, schools involved in the closure can reschedule this examination to an appropriate date later.”

“In this case, KPM always monitors the situation throughout the country and always works closely with the National Security Council (MKN) and MOH.”

If there is any closure of schools in other districts, an announcement will be made prior to the closure.
