Attention WhatsApp users! You will be glad to know that the group video and voice call features on WhatsApp has finally gone live after it was first announced in May 2018!
That’s right, you can now make video or voice calls with up to four people at one time as opposed to just two people before this.
“Over the last couple years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on WhatsApp. In fact, our users spend over two billion minutes on calls per day,” according to its blog as reported by The Star.
Like all chats on WhatsApp, all calls are encrypted end-to-end to ensure the privacy of the users. The Facebook-owned app also claimed that this new feature was engineered to run smoothly even when the network conditions aren’t favourable to the users. You know lah our internet speed.
With that being said, users should brace themselves for low-resolution video if the network speed gets too slow. It’s okay, Malaysians are used to it but hopefully, this will change soon!
In order to use this feature, all you need to do is:
- start a voice or video call like normal
- tap the “add participant” button at the top right corner to add more friends
The new features are available for both Android and iOS users but they must first download the latest version via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. It is not clear yet whether this feature is available in Malaysia yet but we’re sure that it will be coming soon!
Remember to update your WhatsApp guys, don’t be that guy who’s always too lazy to update his apps.
