Over the weekend, many Malaysians were enraged with a video that had gone viral.
In the 20-ish second clip, a woman is seen waiting in an elevator when a man goes in. She then reaches for an item that looks like a thermos and empties the hot contents on the man.
The man was shaken up and walked to the other side of the elevator in pain.
According to the footage, this occurred at 9:24 am on 19 April in the lift of an apartment building in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
BERNAMA reports that the 33-year-old man with Down Syndrome suffered burns on the front and back of his right side due to the hot water. He is currently in a stable condition.
As for the assailant, Southwest acting police chief Deputy Superintendent Jafri Md Zain says that she had been detained at 9:21 pm on 19 April.
“The woman resides in the apartment area and she was remanded today to facilitate investigations into the incident.”
This case is still under investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code for assault.
We hope that justice will be served.
