When vaccination is the priority!
What to do when your mum receives her vaccination appointment at the very last minute while dyeing her hair? Thian’s story is somewhat funny but a good example. Yesterday (16 July 2021), Malaysian-Thai local actress and Facebook user Thain Siew Kim shared a hilarious story about her mother getting vaccinated, but with her hair full of red dye!
“My mother rushed out to get the vaccine while dyeing her hair at home, what’s the reason you have to not get the vaccine at the last minute?” Thian shares. The story begins with her Thai mother who hurried to the vaccination centre (PPV) with her hair dyed halfway after being informed by Thian’s sister that it’s her turn for the vaccination.
Thian shares that she was very angry when she saw her mum arriving at the PPV, “I asked my mother: ‘What are you doing? Don’t come if you are dyeing your hair! Why don’t you wash your hair?’ which she responded:
“I told your sister I was dyeing my hair, but she said I can still get my vaccine! Injecting the vaccine into my arm has nothing to do with my head! She said ok and asked me to dressed up well, so here I am!”
“I was very angry at my sister and my mum, but I still bit the bullet and brought my mum in, I knew she would become a Thailand tourist attraction afterwards,” Thian said.
Without surprise, the staff at the PPV thought she was beaten (as the red hair dye looks like blood) and that she was looking for the ambulance. Thian then explained, “She is my mum, she is Thai, I have to assist her to get her vaccine. Please allow me to go with her. She only knows how to speak Thai”.
Thian shares that she had to explain to every consultant and medical staff at each station in the PPV. “The consultant asked me to ensure that she is alright and not sick, my mum was even thought to be a maid and I was suspected as the employer who abused her!” said Thian.
She also added that everyone would look at her mother’s head as if they saw the Erawan Buddha in Thailand. “All the PPV staff would say ‘Sawadeeka’ to her, it’s like the PPV has become a tourist area,” she said. Some staff even took pictures with her mother and said “Sawadeeka, aunty”.
“A Thai who would rush to get her vaccine at the very last minute, her courage is worth learning, Malaysia should appoint her as the vaccine ambassador,” Thian jokingly said.
The Facebook post has garnered a total of 23k likes and 14k shares at the time of writing. Many find the experience very hilarious and some even said that the story made them laugh with tears of joy!
Nevertheless, the story also taught us the significance of getting the vaccine. So what’s your excuse for not getting the vaccine now?
