WhatsApp’s New Privacy Policy Postponed To May 2021 Due To Confusion Among Users
Last week, WhatsApp updated a new privacy policy for their app that will be implemented effectively starting February 8, 2021. However, it received a negative response from users globally.
Not only that, more users are seen starting to switch to other messaging applications including Telegram and Signal which are said to take more care of user privacy.
According to The Verge, this has prompted WhatsApp to announce the postponement of the new privacy policy due to confusion among users. The implementation of the new privacy policy will be postponed to May 15, 2021. Users are now given an additional three months to review the policy before accepting it.
WhatsApp also states that no account will be suspended or deleted after the implementation date stated earlier. On the other hand, WhatsApp has repeatedly explained to users that data sharing only involves business accounts.
