In the interview with Astro Arena, Zii Jia discussed his “secret ingredient” for winning the intense badminton match, to which the player said,

“I just told myself not to give up and keep going.”

Zii Jia, however, started to shed a few tears after recalling the dark days of waking up every morning for the past 3 years and seeing his name in the headlines.

“I can’t help but think, what have I done wrong?”

Despite seeing how some media had tarnished his name and how netizens were insulting him, Zii Jia chose to remain silent and did what he believed was the best – prove them wrong and show them that this was just the beginning.

Zii Jia also admitted that he had to go through a lot of tough times over the past 3 years, especially after he departed from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and played solo.

“I was struggling with my performance, my ranking dropped, and I never thought I could represent Malaysia for Paris Olympics 2024. But, I never gave up and I got the Bronze Medal, although my initial goal was to get the Gold medal.”

Malaysians, are no doubt, proud of you, Lee Zii Jia! You have performed outstandingly and done your best, and we cannot thank you enough for your contributions!
