Despite his departure from the Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM), we cannot deny Lee Zii Jia’s contributions to Malaysia. After a series of losses with Angus Ng of Hong Kong in the Asian Games in China recently, Zii Jia bounced back from the defeat and advanced to the 2nd round of the game.

During the media conference, Zii Jia had a reminder to everyone out there, including media friends in a clip shared by Forberge on its X page, @forbergenews.

“Whatever you do, don’t mention my family members”

The 25-year-old badminton player did not beat around the bush and expressed what he had on his mind, and said that after he had left BAM, he had heard a lot of things being said about him.

“I know a lot has happened. Some statements were true, some were false.”

Zii Jia acknowledged that he understands how the media works, and he was aware that the media friends are merely doing their job but here’s where he draws the line – leave his family members out of the picture.

“True or false, you can write anything about me but don’t talk about my family members and the people I care about,” Zii Jia sent a friendly reminder.

Before ending his statement, he made sure everyone knew the consequences if anyone crossed that line.

“I’ll give up everything and come after you. Thank you.”

Zii Jia, however, did not specify the exact issue or the individuals in response to the negative remarks he has been receiving.

On Monday (October 2), Zii Jia rose from his defeat in the men’s singles competition with Angus Ng with a score of 15-21, 21-15, 21-16. The intense battle lasted for about an hour.

“The only thing I had in my mind was, I did not want to lose today,” Zii Jia told the press.

Zii Jia’s previous win over Angus was back in 2019 during the German Open. You can watch and listen to Zii Jia’s reminder below.

Regardless, we wish Zii Jia the best of luck in his 2nd round of the Asian Games, and he will always have continuous support from the loyal fans worldwide.
