Malaysian comedian Nigel Ng, better known by his persona Uncle Roger, launched his restaurant chain Fuiyoh! It’s Uncle Roger with a total of six outlets across Malaysia.
We previously reported that the IPC branch, which first opened in 2024, has since closed for good, a move that came as a surprise to many.

Reason for closure
In response to the news, Fuiyoh! It’s Uncle Roger has released an official statement explaining the reasoning behind the closure.
According to the team, the business expanded “too quickly”; in an effort to capitalise on early momentum, they signed leases in locations that they later felt “weren’t the right fit.”
The statement reads:
“To all nieces and nephews, as you may know, we are closing our IPC branch permanently, haiyaa. The IPC outlet’s seating was mostly outdoors, so it was often humid and uncomfortable.
“Many customers complained about the lack of air conditioning. We heard this feedback regularly and saw it firsthand.”
The team also stressed that they are not blaming the venue, but acknowledged that the situation could have been handled better as they continue to grow the business.

“Fewer outlets mean less complexity”
They also pointed out that despite the closure, customers can still dine at their other outlets, which are operating as usual.
“F&B is already an unforgiving industry, and with challenging environmental factors on top of that, it became an obstacle we ultimately couldn’t overcome.
“The good news is that our outlets at Pavilion Bukit Bintang, MyTown, JB Mid Valley Southkey, Central i-City, and KLIA2 are all still running as usual. But instead of expanding, we’re now scaling down our operations and running a leaner team—something we realise we should’ve done from the start,” the statement added.
Furthermore, the team shared that they are re-evaluating their menu pricing after receiving feedback from customers who felt the current prices did not match the value of the offerings.
“Fewer outlets mean less complexity, which will help us improve quality control and better fit what customers want.
We’ve been reworking our menu and how we build each dish, so that at the same price point, you’re getting more: a protein, a side, something that makes the meal feel complete. These new menu items will also go beyond just fried rice, with more to be announced soon,” they added.
