A man was arrested just one day after allegedly breaking into a house in Taman Nesa, Skudai, and stealing an air conditioner.

CCTV footage of the incident went viral after the homeowner shared it on social media. In the two-minute, 20-second video, the suspect can be seen repeatedly striking a gate until it opens.

He proceeded to steal an air conditioning unit and even returned to the house moments later to steal the outdoor unit.

According to Johor Bahru Utara district police Chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh, they received a report from a 40-year-old woman at 12:18 pm on Friday.

“Acting on the information, a team from the Johor Baru Utara Criminal Investigation Division arrested the 32-year-old suspect, a local man at 2.30pm the following day.”

He said checks revealed that the suspect had one past criminal record. “However, a urine test carried out on the suspect showed that he was not on any drugs,” he said according to the New Straits Times.
