A war of words and a couple of insults recently triggered a huge brawl between 7 students at a secondary school in Sungai Pelek, Sepang, yesterday morning.
A recording of the incident which happened on Wednesday (6 April) went viral on social media.
According to Sepang district police chief ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, the school principal had alerted the Voluntary Patrol Unit (PPS) officers regarding the incident at 11:05am.
He added that two PPS officers responded to the call and went to the school before giving stern warnings and advice to the students involved in the fight.
Wan Kamarul Azran added that based on the investigation by the PPS officers and the teachers at the school, a form 4 student taunted a form 3 student during recess before the junior retaliated by getting violent.
No students were injured during the brawl and all the seven students involved in the fight admitted their mistakes.
“All the students involved in the fight apologised to one another and vowed not to repeat the matter.”
He also added that no police reports were lodged against the students. However said that the students will be dealt with disciplinary actions by the school.
Ministry of Education waiting for full report
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education (MOE) is waiting for a detailed report on a fight between the two groups of students.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said this was to enable the ministry to investigate the matter before taking any appropriate action.
“We have not received a detailed report on the incident and further investigation is required to obtain complete information on it before action is taken,” he said.
Dr Mah hoped that harmony and mutual respect could be promoted more actively in schools to build good character towards preventing bullying and fights among students.
