Public backlash over littered fireworks

The incident reportedly took place in the residential neighbourhood of Taman Tupai Mas in Taiping, Perak. The user pointed out that the area under the tree was not a designated dumping ground.

“Celebrating the ninth day of the Lunar New Year to pray to the Jade Emperor is a good thing, but leaving firework boxes and rubbish under a large tree after setting them off is truly unacceptable,” they wrote.

The user emphasised that individuals must take responsibility for their own mess rather than simply walking away.

“After setting off fireworks, you should clean up your own rubbish instead of leaving it as if it’s someone else’s problem. Who do you expect to clean up after you?” they added.

“While it’s good to pray for blessings from the Jade Emperor, don’t forget to show basic civic responsibility first.”

Netizens call for accountability

“People like this should be dealt with. They should be caught. Later, when action is taken against them, they’ll complain that the government is bad.”

“After setting off fireworks, the rubbish should be placed in your own trash bin, not just left under a tree! If your own bin is too small, take it to a larger public bin! If you want to play and enjoy yourself, you need to take responsibility for your waste.”

“If it’s meant for recycling, at least tear it open and arrange it properly, then that’s understandable. But leaving it scattered like this? They deserve to be fined.”
