The police are tracking down the owner of a TikTok account to help investigate allegations that members of the police patrol car units (MPVs) took bribes through a video uploaded to the account.
Based on a report by Kosmo, the Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor shared that PDRM encountered the 31-second video apparently showcasing members of a patrol car accepting bribes near a petrol station.
“Preliminary investigations found that the incident is believed to have happened at a petrol station near the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway,”
“Efforts to track down and record the information of the owner of the TikTok account are underway to assist with the investigation,” he said.
In the video, a man can be seen entering the convenience mart at the petrol station before soon coming back out and approaching the police patrol vehicle parked by the side of the road. After a short conversation with the officers, in which the man’s hands could be seen entering the patrol vehicle’s open window, the man then walked away.
Additionally, Amihizam urges the TikTok account owner as well as members of the public with information related to the date, time of the incident and the registration number of the patrol car to come forward.
Information in regards to this can be channeled to the Brickfields Police Hotline at 03-22979222, the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-21159999 or to any nearby police station.
