For many of us who grew up as teenagers in the mid-2000s, you will no doubt remember the incredibly popular rock band ‘My Chemical Romance’. With their now immortalised single ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ and their stark black-and-white emo aesthetic, the band became one of the most popular groups for teenagers growing up in an angsty, tormented life. (p.s. the emo-fringe totally rocked too)
As you know, all good things must come to an end and in 2013 the band announced a very sudden breakup. With broken hearts, all of us MCR fans had no choice but to hang up our striped stockings, chuck away our eyeliner pens, and move on into adulthood. 🙁
But WAIT! Not so fast! Bring out all your gear, because 6 years after their initial breakup, My Chemical Romance has just announced their reunion tour! Omg omg omg omg.
No, this isn’t a false alarm, this is seriously happening. According to the band’s official Twitter page, tickets for their first reunion show are now available for sale! Simply titled ‘RETURN’, the concert is scheduled to be held on 30th December, 2019 at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
For those of you who don’t know enough about My Chemical Romance, the band was founded in 2001 by Gerard Way and drummer Matt Pelissier shortly after the 9/11 attacks. Gerard had mentioned how the September 11th attacks shaped much so much of his life that it prompted him to start his own band.
Shortly after that, the band released ‘I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love’ and went on tour with heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. They then released their second album, ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’ in 2004.
But for many fans, you’ll probably best remember My Chemical Romance from their third studio album, The Black Parade. Released in 2006, it instantly catapulted the band into mainstream attention and garnered them a huge following. Fontman Gerard Way’s dedication in committing to the role of the ‘leader’ of The Black Parade at live performance tours have become the stuff of true legend.
Sooooo, if you don’t mind the rest of us in the office here today, we’re going to get a little busy with our concert looks and plan ahead to take leave ok! Here’s to hoping that we’ll get to see Gerard, Ray, Frank, Mikey and James leading the stage on a truly international reunion tour!
BRB GONNA GO GET GUYLINER.
