Sharing is caring. Food and knowledge are probably what we don’t mind sharing because we care, but are you willing to share the love of your life?
2 brothers in Vietnam, who are 81 and 77, respectively, recently went viral for their bizarre lifestyle – being married to the same woman for decades, according to CTWant and Khaosod.
Well, we’ve heard of polygamy which involves 1 man and 2 (or more) wives, but we’re sure that it’s not every day that you come across a story about a woman who has 2 husbands, let alone 2 husbands who are brothers!
Their love story goes back to the Vietnam War when the woman, Mrs. Kan was tasked to distribute food to the soldiers. The connection bloomed into a romance when she fell for the elder brother, who couldn’t spend time with her much due to the ongoing war.
The brother then left for war, leaving her alone at home, waiting and waiting. Mrs. Kan tried to find her husband but there was no news about him, at all.
Her husband’s younger brother, who was a teacher at that time had always been attracted to her beauty and gentleness. Many believed Mrs. Kan’s husband had passed away, so she started spending time with his younger brother, Tua, and eventually got married to him.
Tua was accepted as the 2nd son-in-law and everything went well until Tua’s brother returned home from war!
Tua’s brother, however, was not angry about the marriage and in fact, he was happy to “share” his wife.
A punishment before happily ever after
Their marriage was initially not well received by the villagers, who could accept 1 man with 2 wives but NOT 1 woman with 2 husbands.
After Mrs. Kan gave birth to her 1st child, the trio had to sacrifice some animals to God, which was done so God would not be angry.
The family did what was necessary and since then, they lived happily ever after with over 10 children throughout their “love triangle”, and some grandchildren. According to their daughter-in-law, she has never seen the trio fighting at all.
Happiness is all that matters, as long as it doesn’t harm anyone. But in your heart of hearts, are you willing to share the love of your life with anyone else?
