A viral video is circulating on social media, showing a man using a python to intimidate foreign beggars and drive them away at an undisclosed location in Terengganu.

The person who recorded the entire ordeal in his car can be heard laughing at the scene. Meanwhile, the man carrying the python stopped the pursuit once the beggars escaped, while the person recording the incident continued to burst out laughing.

The footage was shared by many social media pages, including @utusanmelayuplus on Threads, which posted with the caption, “The beggars would return the next day.”

The post further claimed that the foreign beggars are Rohingya refugees staying in a district in Terengganu.

“Isn’t this wrong?”

Public opinion in the comments section was sharply divided over the man’s actions. While some expressed support for the man and found the incident hilarious, others deemed it demeaning and unnecessary, especially with the python.

“I support this. I have encountered them previously, and they were rude, especially if we didn’t want to donate, as if we were obligated to donate.”

“They greeted me, and I responded. They dared to ask why I didn’t donate. I was so angry. Why is this state filled with them?”

“This isn’t good, brother. This is a test for us as Malaysians who are well-mannered. Sometimes, I get angry at them too, but I genuinely wish we could find solutions for them.”

“Don’t laugh about it. They’re still human, they’re Muslims. Must you really do that? If you don’t want to help, that’s fine, but leave them alone.”

According to a report by the Asia Media Centre, Malaysia stands as the second-largest host of Rohingya refugees. The Malaysian government has not published official statistics about the number of Rohingya refugees it has hosted, but estimates from 2023 range from over 100,000 to 200,000.

For comparison, there are a few thousand Rohingya refugees in Indonesia and a few hundred in Thailand.
