What began as an ordinary meal at Oriental Kopi’s AEON Bukit Indah outlet took a sudden and unsettling turn when a customer became the target of a snatch theft. Thanks to the swift reaction of several staff members, the incident ended without loss or injury, and with a reminder of the importance of vigilance in public spaces.

The incident occurred while a group of customers were dining inside the restaurant. According to Oriental Kopi, the suspect entered the premises posing as an unsuspecting customer, pretending to speak on the phone. In a matter of seconds, the individual moved toward the back of the restaurant and took an elderly woman’s bag from behind her chair.

The theft happened so quickly that diners and staff alike were caught off guard. However, the suspect’s escape was short-lived.

Several Oriental Kopi team members immediately sprang into action. Without hesitation, they rushed forward, intercepted the suspect, and managed to recover the stolen bag. The item was returned safely to its owner moments later.

“When the bag was placed back into the auntie’s hands, and we saw the relief on her face, only then did we truly feel at ease,” the company shared in a statement posted on its social media platforms.

No injuries were reported, and the situation was resolved within minutes. Meanwhile, the restaurant did not disclose further details about the suspect.

Oriental Kopi also expressed deep gratitude to the team members who stepped up during the critical moment, noting that their actions were driven not by duty alone, but by a strong sense of responsibility toward their customers.

“They did not think twice,” the company said. “They simply felt that something like this should not be allowed to happen right in front of them.”

The company emphasised that it shared the incident not for publicity, but to recognise the rare display of bravery and presence of mind shown under pressure.

In light of the incident, Oriental Kopi also issued a gentle reminder to the public to remain mindful of personal belongings when dining out, particularly in busy or crowded environments.

The post concluded with a message of thanks to customers for their continued support, and a renewed commitment from the brand to provide a safe and welcoming dining experience.
