Love travelling but hate paying for expensive flight fees? Looks like you’ve been doing your flight booking wrong all this time! Especially if you’ve been booking your flights on weekdays.
That’s because, Expedia and the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) recently released a joint report stating that Sundays are the best day to book a flight, which contradicts the popular belief that Tuesdays are the best day of the week to book flights.
Besides Sundays, the report, which was carried out from Sept 1, 2016 to Aug 31, 2017 to identify the patterns on the best times to book air travel and best times to fly in 2018, also published that Thursdays and Fridays are the best days to travel with the cheapest fares available, especially for international economy flights. This, however, excludes flights departing from Fiji or Saudi Arabia.
Hence, try NOT to book a flight on a Friday or it will only create a hole in your wallet. Instead, opt to travel on that day or on a Thursday, but make your bookings on a Sunday!
Summary: book on Sunday, travel on Thursday or Friday!
Besides the best days to travel, the report also highlighted the cheapest months to fly for international travel.
So, if you are planning a trip to Hong Kong or Singapore this year, March would be the ideal month to travel. Besides that, November is the cheapest month to travel to Thailand and South Korea.
Meanwhile, those of you who want to experience winter in Japan, January has been forecasted to be the cheapest month to travel there. Also, if you are planning to visit the Great Wall of China, do so in the month of December.
What about if you want to travel further to Australia, New Zealand or Europe? Then bookmark the month of March, May, and September for a trip to Europe while March offers the cheapest international flights to Australia and New Zealand.
So, itching to fulfil your wanderlust already? Well, now you know the best travel-booking hack to get a bang for your buck! Happy travels!
