As of 8 September, JKJAV reported that a total of 70.5% (or over 16.4 million individuals) of the adult population in Malaysia have fully completed their vaccinations, while 89.5% have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, the Ministry Of Health (MOH) has reported a number of 19,733 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, with Sarawak recording the highest number, followed by Selangor.

Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 97.8% or 19,304 of the new cases are Category 1 (asymptomatic) and Category 2 (minor symptoms), according to Astro Awani.

Additionally, the remaining 2.2% (429 cases) were under Categories 3, 4, and 5. A total of 361 deaths were also reported on the same day with 301 of them involving Malaysians.

Dr Hisham also highlighted the significance of getting vaccinated.

“The situation clearly shows that the vaccinated are better protected, with lower risk of severe infections.”

He assured that the positive development will continue as Malaysia progresses to achieve a higher rate of vaccination. He further reminded the people to get vaccinated immediately in order to protect the people around them from being infected with the virus. Besides that, people are also expected to continuously adhere to the SOPs to reduce the risk of infection.

Vaccination

With the progression into Phase 2 starting 10 September for Klang Valley, we are now allowed to make interdistrict and interstate travels as no roadblocks will be set up. However, always keep in mind that being fully vaccinated does not grant us the right to violate the SOPs in any way.
