A Chinese national who is pursuing his Master’s Degree here was blunt about what he thought of the country initially.

“It was disappointing because of its backward infrastructure, underdeveloped public transportation and inefficient civil servants.”

“The main problem is that the efficiency is ridiculously low. On weekends and holidays, no one is at work and no one is there to help you.”

Things, however, are always bound to change. In his viral Douyin post @在大马的CASH, the man admitted to having grown more comfortable with the place the longer he stayed here.

Cheap houses and cars, and lots of holidays!

The more he got to explore the lifestyle in Malaysia, the more his disappointment turned to love. In his video, he said that the cars and houses in Malaysia are cheap.

“In KL, you get to buy a house for RM1 million. This is something I cannot imagine in China.”

“Cars and gasoline are also cheap here, so that makes things a lot less stressful.”

In addition, he also commented on the working pace here, which is eased with the abundance of public holidays, which he said has saved him from the worries of taking time off for himself.

“I can get off work around 4 PM or 5 PM every day, and I can enjoy my own time after I have finished my work. I can even go to the gym.”

Last but not least, the Malaysian people also played a role

He described Malaysians as nice people and said that when making friends, Malaysians rarely care about family background or financial ability, but similar values and personality are more than enough.

He said that in Malaysia, he has made a lot of friends. While the place is not perfect, the man said that Malaysia has something that he looks for in life.

“Although the infrastructure here is not advanced enough, the life pacing is relaxing. There is no pressure to work hard, and there are many holidays. This slower pace is the life I yearn for.”

What do you think of his take on Malaysia?
