A birthday celebration in Rayong, Thailand, went south when a woman attacked her husband with a machete on March 14 at their rented place in Ban Sone Salung.
According to Channel 7 Thailand, the fight started when 48-year-old Boonyanuch made tomyam during the celebration. The couple was drunk when he allegedly said he wanted to eat chicken rice, sparking a heated argument.

She claims it was self-defence
Boonyanuch claimed that Em became aggressive and grabbed a crab-catching swing net in a threatening manner. In an attempt to defend herself, she reached for a machete, and during the struggle, the blade struck his head and ankle. However, police have yet to confirm if this was truly the case.
A 26-year-old witness said he was sitting outside with Em before the couple went inside. Moments later, he heard shouting and a commotion from their home.
When the authorities arrived, they found the 50-year-old victim lying on the floor with a bleeding head wound. Paramedics treated him on the spot before rushing him to the hospital.
