Amid the Covid-19 crisis and Movement Control Order, our newly appointed Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has recognised the struggles of our fellow Malaysians.

In a press conference, he announced that starting today, the 23rd of March, PTPTN payments are hereby suspended in order to help Malaysians get by during the movement restriction. The deferment of the loan repayment involves a total collection amounting to RM750 million and will benefit nearly 1.5 million PTPTN lenders.

The suspension will be effective up until the 30th of September, 2020.

In addition to the deferment, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has other plans in the works that assist Malaysians through this difficult time.

“In addition to these initiatives that I have announced, the government is also considering additional measures to help the people in difficult situation at this time,” he said.

Considering the effect of grocery hoarders on everyone else, we genuinely hope that the government adds in an initiative that’ll figure out a way to ensure that every citizen has access to equal rations of food items.
