As a tourist in a foreign land, being alone isn’t the scary part. It’s when you’re lost with no proper signs to guide you to the destination and with no good samaritans in sight to help you “out of your misery.”

Fortunately, a Taiwanese tourist in Penang did not have to experience the fear for long when she was lost in the confusion of boarding the bus to the airport. According to her Xiao Hong Shu post which has since circulated on social media, she was scheduled to fly to KL from Penang on December 27th. After walking around Georgetown for 8 to 9 km and seeking help from Google, she still had no idea which was the right bus to board to get to the airport.

A Malaysian couple took the extra mile to help her

Just when she was frustrated by the confusion, fate had something else planned for the tourist. She met an Indian couple, whom she asked about the bus.

The couple was not only patient in guiding her but they took the extra mile in making sure she got to her destination.

“They were extremely patient. They took the bus with me until the interchange station and even paid for my bus fares!” the tourist revealed and was touched by how friendly the couple was.

When she reached her destination, the couple, however, did not leave. The wife handed the tourist some money and the man constantly reminded her that the bus would be there in a matter of minutes before the pair eventually left the tourist.

The sight of them leaving has left her feeling unexplainably teary.

“Thanks to them, I’m in love with this town,” she said in her viral post.

She also headlined her article to thank Penangites with her own words of gratitude.

“There’s a temperature in Penang, and there’s warmth here.”

We’re glad that the foreign tourist felt welcomed and safe here in Malaysia. The “guardian angel” who showed up to help her shall be an inspiration to others to do good to others without expecting any return.
