With GE15 coming soon, you can see a lot of banners and campaign materials by the side of the road.
Recently, a few Pakatan Harapan candidates voiced out about how their campaign materials were destroyed and their flags were pulled out.
Sheikh Omar Ali
On 7 November, Sheikh Omar Ali who is a PH candidate in Ayer Hitam has spoken out about how 200 of their coalition flags had been pulled out.
“About 10 of us worked hard till 2am to put up 300 flags but a witness has said that at 8am, he saw that the flags were pulled out and thrown into the ditch,” he said.
“We are disappointed with this thuggish politics. We condemn those who use this dirty and uncivilized tactic during the election.”
Hannah Yeoh
Segambut MP, Hannah Yeoh is also a victim of this “dirty politics” as her face was cut up in the banners around her constitution.
Penduduk Taman Tun Dr Ismail maklumkan bahawa pagi ini bendera Harapan telah ditarik keluar, banner saya dipotong & billboard saya dihancurkan di beberapa lokasi. Sedih kerana kami bukan orang kaya. Permainan politik kotor dan menjijikkan. Bertanding secara bersih pls! #Segambut pic.twitter.com/1PeopawkOR

She updated her Twitter page by saying that the TTDI residents have informed her about how the PH flags were pulled out and the banners and billboards were ripped.
“This political play is dirty and disgusting. Please compete in a clean way!”
Hannah Yeoh added in another tweet that she will be lodging a police report on this and had asked for the residents of TTDI to send her their CCTV footage if they managed to capture the perpetrators on camera.
Nurul Izzah
Nurul Izzah’s posters in Permatang Pauh were also ripped up and to that she says,
“Youths, let’s build a mature political legacy. Leave the hate culture behind because that’s just not who we are. Even though the bunting is ripped, let’s keep our spirits strong.”
These acts of vandalism are truly deplorable and not something that should exist in a mature political landscape.
