A video of a village head slamming a kampung folk who was not only Covid-19 positive but breached SOPs after he was found wandering around the village, went viral on social media.

In the video, Reswan Ramli, the village head of Kampung Melayu, Padang Besar, Perlis was seen screaming angrily at a household, scolding them for not following orders.

“My question is simple! Why are you not following orders?! I am not here to reprimand you, but be mindful of what you are supposed to do and stay home!”

Clearly wanting to send a message, Reswan said, “I have received many complaints of people breaching home-quarantine orders to socialize.”

“One of them even had the cheek to cut their quarantine tags, resulting in other people coming in to close contact with Covid-19 positive individuals.”

The people who were scolded in the video were slapped with a RM8,000 compound for breaching quarantine and SOP.

According to the Padang Besar District Police Chief, Superintendent Saifudin Aslin Abbas, “Another family member was also compounded RM1,500 for leaving the quarantine premise.”

Let’s hope that there are many more people like Reswan, who took the extra initiative to ensure that everybody is kept on their toes in complying with the SOPs.
