Considering that the Covid-19 Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) is coming to an end soon, the Malaysian government are giving citizens more leeway for normal activities we’ve come to forget.

For one, students will soon be able to return to their extra-curricular activities.

As according to Bernama, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that the government will allow sports and co-curricular activities to be held outside of classrooms from 1 September onwards.

The decision was made during the special Cabinet meeting on the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) after they also attended an Education Ministry (MOE) talk on the guideline for the activities.

“The guidelines comprise of the implementation of face-to-face and practical sports and co-curricular activities outside of the classrooms for subjects such as Physical and Health Education as well as Sports Sciences in a controlled environment,” he said.

Some of the strict guidelines include getting written approval from parents and guardians, controlling shower and changing room usage based on capacity and adhering to physical distancing rules of one to three meters for static activities and three to five meters for dynamic activities.

Sporting and other equipment are to also be cleaned and disinfected.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri also added that all activities must comply with the guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) created by the National Security Council (MKN), Health Ministry (MOH), Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) and MOE.

The guidelines can be found on the MKN and MOE websites starting 1 September.

“Among the guidelines that must be adhered to are deciding the number of students based on the capacity of space and areas used for the activities, cleaning and disinfecting practical equipment and not allowing symptomatic students to join practical activities.”

Stay tuned for more updates.
