It has been 5 days since 48-year-old Vijayaletchumi fell into the sinkhole in Masjid India, KL, and she has yet to be located despite the authorities’ continuous efforts.
Her family members, on the other hand, have accepted fate but they have only 1 request – they just want to look at Vijayaletchumi one last time.
The Special Officer for Indian Affairs to the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Arvend Appiasamy told the media yesterday (August 26) that the victim’s family has accepted the tragedy and they’re not asking for anything, except to look at Vijayaletchumi’s face one last time.
“It’s really heartbreaking. They are prepared for the worst-case scenario and are hoping that the authorities can find the victim as soon as possible.” Arvend said.
Arvend also assured the family members that the authorities have been doing their best to locate the victim.
In the meantime, Arvend also said that the family members’ visas have been extended for another month, effective yesterday.
“Yes, this is my mum”
It was also reported that when the media showed Vijayaletchumi’s son, Surya the picture of his mum, he nodded and confirmed the authenticity.
“Yes, correct, that is my mum,” Surya calmly told
Last Friday (August 23), Vijayaletchumi, an Indian national who has been here for 2 months fell into a sinkhole in KL, and the rescue mission has been ongoing since then. At the time of writing (August 27), there are still no new leads on the whereabouts of the victim.
Regardless, the authorities are still hard at work and we sincerely hope the search will be fruitful to end the family’s torturous wait.
