In March 2023, senior citizen Uncle Patrick Khoo was physically assaulted by an officer from the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) while protecting his dogs. CCTV footage showed the elderly being struck on the head with a catch pole.

In the following month, MBPJ confirmed that no actions would be taken against the said officer because it was accidental that he hit Patrick’s face with the catching pole.

MBPJ then filed a report against Patrick and handed the matter over to PDRM, who investigated Patrick for obstructing the duties of public servants, with the matter investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing injury.

Patrick was charged with obstruction, and two years later, the senior citizen is set to begin trial next week

In a viral Instagram post by @myforeverdoggo, Patrick’s first day of trial is scheduled for May 14, 2025. The public is welcome to attend in support of his trial, which will take place at the Petaling Jaya Sessions & Magistrate Court.

The trial will begin at 11 AM, but visitors are advised to arrive earlier.

“He would appreciate it if you could attend to show him some support so he doesn’t feel so alone in this.”

Patrick suffered a minor stroke

In the post, it was also revealed that following the viral scuffle, which involved a team of MBPJ officers, the past couple of years haven’t been kind to Patrick.

Just two months after the incident, Patrick was diagnosed with a minor stroke and is now living in a nursing home.

The relocation meant separation from his dogs, but fortunately, Patrick’s relatives are currently taking care of the furry friends. Patrick’s physical and mental health also continues to decline.

Not only that, but during these two years, @myforeverdoggo said that Patrick had attended court 13 times and had to endure court delays.

Patrick was left with a swollen jaw, cheek, and a cut on his wrist due to the scuffle.
