Taking to TikTok, this netizen shared a video of how Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmy Yahya was seemingly perturbed and ready to confront UMS students for rallying amidst water woes in the state.
In the aggressively sounding video, the Deputy Chief Minister can be seen storming out of his office before he is stopped by his entourage.
In the video, this netizen shared, “The peaceful assembly became tense when the Deputy Chief Minister came down to the ground to speak with students at the #KamiMahuAirSabah rally.”
The Deputy Chief Minister can be heard saying, “I am already here, and they still want to behave this way.”
In a corresponding video shared on national television, here is his response to the situation.
“This approach is immature when it comes to issues concerning the rakyat.”
“There are official channels where this issue can gain more traction, a platform where they can voice their opinions,” he explained.
“As the government, we accept their plights, but it should be done in a more mature approach,” he added.
Yesterday, UMS students marched from their campus to the state government office to hand in their memorandum on Sabah’s water woes.
