A tiny rural village has become home to millionaires after one of the villagers started selling yarn online.
Yes, yarn. Not like that fairytale of turning thread to gold, just normal yarn…
The young man made about USD2,900 (RM12,932) in just 3 months. Generally, the Chinese only earn USD327 (RM1,458) a month on a minimum wage income, Nextshark reported.
Most of the villagers of Donggaozhuang’s money came from agricultural activities by growing wheat and corn. But after seeing how the young man was making moolah from the online business, of course they got very interested too.
Village leaders asked the youngster to teach everyone in the community on setting up this online business.
They all found that selling yarn is a great opportunity, so much so that some of them even sold their farm lands to do this!
Teenagers, whose families were so into this business, even quit school just to help out with the yarn making.
Currently, the tiny little village of about 2,000 people already have a bunch of millionaires!
They set up their business via Taobao, one of the biggest shopping platform owned by Alibaba Group. There are about 400 online markets from this town alone.
Now, instead of growing and farming crops, this village is buying wool to make threads… and becoming millionaires.
Netizens were so impressed by the simple yet prosperous business that they all plan on setting their own yarn business.
“Anything can easily make money with the internet today. I think I should do the same too and be a millionaire in my own town.”
Well, excuse me now while I go set up my own yarn business too.
