A rising 27-year-old actor tragically passed away on January 30 after what he thought was just a common cold or flu turned out to be something much more serious.
According to China Press, Chinese actor Eugene Liang Youcheng first believed he just had a regular cold, but his condition got worse fast, leading to him being rushed to the hospital.

He only had mild symptoms
Liang’s passing started when he showed mild symptoms and was told it was just a common cold. But things took a turn for the worse, and the infection spread to his central nervous system, which ended up being fatal.
Even with emergency treatment, he didn’t make it and passed away in the hospital on the second day of the Chinese New Year.
Reports say none of his family members were there with him at the time.

Barbie Hsu passed away after she was infected with influenza
According to Riley Children’s Health, the central nervous system (CNS), which includes the brain and spinal cord, controls most body and mind functions, and infections in this system can be life-threatening.
There were also reports that it might have been complications from an influenza A infection, though that hasn’t been officially confirmed.
This is similar to the recent passing of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who died from flu-related pneumonia.
Liang was known for his roles in the Chinese dramas Echo of Her Voice (2024) and My Heart (2021). He was also set to star in the upcoming series It Girl in Tang Dynasty.
