Due to the recent sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in India, a Tamil chain restaurant in Madurai has stepped up their game of spreading awareness by conceptualizing a new style of face masks – the mask parottas!

K Lakshmana Kumar, the manager of Hotel Temple City, said the reason behind this idea is the common sight of people in Madurai not wearing masks, as reported by The New Indian Express.

Mask

These parottas are shaped into 3 ply surgical masks to resemble the actual masks. They are meant to implement the need for face masks in this current situation.

Kumar was prompted to create a corona-based menu when he realized how Madurai people are not feeling alarmed by the increasing Covid19 cases in Tamil Nadu. Thus, he combined the elements of coronavirus and parottas into the new dish with the help of his two other friends. And within the same evening, they were able to present a solid shape of the new conceptualization.

Since then, they have been receiving overwhelming responses from the citizens. One can get two pieces of mask parottas in a set at the price of Rs 50 (RM2.85). According to the report, the mask parottas are only served in the hotel’s first branch in Mattuthavani due to the lockdown. Once it’s lifted, this menu will be available across all the 12 branches.

Kumar

Kumar also mentioned to The Times of India that they do provide free masks to those who come into their restaurants without wearing one.

While some were excited about such creativity, there were a few who doubted if this corona-based menu is able to increase the awareness across the city, or rather the nation.

Confused

Well, we definitely feel like having some parottas now but what do you think of this creative idea? Let us know in the comments section below!
