A luxury vehicle was recently seized by the Kedah Road Transport Department (JPJ) during an enforcement operation on 23 February in the Sungai Lalang area.
Following the operation, Kedah JPJ shared on its Facebook page that further checks revealed the road tax and insurance for the white Mercedes-Benz E350 AMG Line had both expired.

Driver’s “rarely used” excuse dismissed
Despite the expired documents, the vehicle was still being driven on public roads. The driver reportedly claimed the car was “rarely used” as his justification for failing to renew the road tax.
“The driver claimed the car was rarely used, which was why the road tax had not been renewed.
“However, initial investigations found that the individual was not the registered owner of the vehicle,” the post read.

The vehicle has since been seized and moved to the Kuala Ketil Enforcement Station under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Kedah JPJ also confirmed that fines were issued to both the driver and the owner under Section 23(1) and Section 90(1) of the same act for related offences.
“JPJ emphasised that all vehicles on the road must have valid road tax and insurance, no matter how often they are used. The vehicle is currently being held at the Kuala Ketil Enforcement Station for further action,” the department added.
