As Malaysia prepares for its first week of conditional movement control order (CMCO), businesses that have been given the green light to reopen have to follow strict standard operating procedures (SOP). This includes public transport like Rapid KL, that has resumed operations at half-capacity today (4 May).

Photos on Rapid KL’s Facebook page shows how the SOPs have been set in place like having markers on waiting platforms, seats and train floors to enforce social distancing.

Passengers also have to go through body temperature checks and need to be wearing masks before they are allowed to enter the station. Those with high temperatures should avoid using public transport altogether.

Additionally, only a certain number of passengers will be allowed on the train, hence a longer waiting time is expected. Passengers in the train or bus are also required to distance themselves from other passengers.

Looks like everyone is staying behind the red markers and keeping their distance from each other. Keep it up, everyone!

As Malaysia’s economy slowly reopens, we hope that Malaysians will abide by the SOPs set in place to ensure that there is no further spread of Covid-19 in the community.

While many are concerned about easing restrictions too early, all of us have a part to play during this national crisis. Stay at home if you can, and be extra careful and vigilant if you have to go out.
