On Wednesday, Ibrahim Mat Zin, or more famously known as Raja Bomoh, made an appearance at Teluk Intan, Perak, where he performed rituals with a companion to fight the floods.
Following the incident, Jabatan Agama Islam Perak (JAIPk) opened an investigation into the shaman under Section 14 of the Perak Syariah Criminal Enactment 1992, for the offense of defaming and insulting Islam.
Now, Raja Bomoh is threatening to sue the government departments who are accusing him for RM300 million!
“Many departments concerned do not have a sense of discretion. Discretion should come first, discuss first. We are a democratic country, an Islamic country. Islam is clean, efficient and trustworthy. There is a sense of discourse. There is a faculty of morals.”
“So we should call each other up to discuss if what I was doing is not right.” he shared in a live session on Facebook, adding that the authorities of the departments accused him of shirk and of being superstitious.
In Islam, Shirk is the sin of idolatry or polytheism.
He also added that the accusations caused him to be embarrassed, which led to him deciding to sue these departments.
“When I am accused of shirk, I feel embarrassed. When I feel embarrassed, I will sue. I am not a road side or village shaman. Such issues should be discussed first.”
He has since also made a police report on the matter and is engaging with his lawyer on the next steps towards suing the departments who made the accusations.
