Ibrahim Mat Zin, or “Raja Bomoh Sedunia” as he is widely known, is now wanted by the religious authorities.
The reason? Because they say that he is allegedly tarnishing the image of Islam.

Raja Bomoh gained fame in 2014, when he performed outlandish rituals to find the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 with his bamboo telescopes and waving coconuts.

There were no more news of him after that, but recently, Raja Bomoh made headlines again when he performed similar rituals to protect Malaysia from any threat from North Korea, as the relationship between the two countries has been increasingly strained ever since the murder of Kim Jong-Nam at KLIA2 in 13 February.
It was because of these rituals that have caused the authorities to be on the hunt for him.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki tweeted on Sunday, “Jawi and PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) are working hard to track down the bomoh (shaman) since Monday to arrest and charge him for tarnishing the image of Islam.”

Federal Territories mufti Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri also said that Raja Bomoh Sedunia must be stopped, as his rituals are animalistic and forbidden in Islam. Perlis mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin and Perak deputy mufti Zamri Hashim echoed the same sentiments.
Hashim also said that the state had issued a fatwa that ruled Raja Bomoh’s ritual as forbidden.
However, The Star reported that the shaman claimed that he has in fact been protecting Malaysia for seven decades.
So that’s why la, Malaysia masih aman!
