A victim of the gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, 42-year-old Norsalawati Zakaria, was once again put to the test when her newly rented home in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru was hit with flash floods early today morning (Friday – April 11).
According to a report by Sinar Harian, Norsalawati shared that, while she and her family have yet to fully move into the newly rented home, some of their daily items as well as her eldest son were moved there in advance.

“My eldest son, who is 19 years old, was in the new house last night, while the rest of my family and I are still living at the temporary relief centre (PPS) in Putra Heights. At around 5:30am, my son woke up when he felt water starting to enter the house. He managed to save his motorcycle and some other belongings,” she said.
The water rose to knee-level before receding at around 8:30am.
Her family managed to arrive at the newly rented home at about 6:30am and save their car that was parked nearby. Unfortunately, all of their clothes that were moved to the newly rented home were destroyed by the flood.
However, they were grateful that they had yet to move any electrical items to the house.

“We were just about to recover from the big fire in Putra Heights that destroyed our rented home of 16 years. Now, the new house has been hit by the floods.”
She views this as a huge blow to her and her family, considering they are left with limited clothing.
“Now, even the donated clothes have drowned. (I’m) very sad and very tired with everything that happened in such a short time,” she added.
