Malaysian-based Philippines actor, Mark Adam recently made headlines after his viral Satay Bhalut was sold at prices, which, to some consumers, were deemed too expensive.
Mark had explained and justified his pricing for his viral Satay Bhalut, which goes up to RM24.90 for 3 sticks of meat of different flavours that come with a Blue Lemonade Soda Beverage. However, Mark was surprised to learn that his stall at the food festival “received” a surprise visit from the officers of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN).
The 45-year-old actor and businessman said that he was shocked to learn about the visit, despite having explained his pricing.
“I was not there, but I was informed by one of my employees about their presence, who were there to investigate the pricing.”
Mark also said he had nothing to hide and he was okay with the officers to carry out their due diligence at his stall, and continued to highlight his premium ingredients that were imported.
“The premium ingredients, like beef and lamb were from New Zealand. I had explained everything, so I was not worried at all,” Mark said.
Is Mark planning to lower the prices given the criticism he received for his expensive Satay Bhalut?
According to him, he is currently planning to come up with a cheaper menu that many consumers will find affordable. However, he did not reveal much about the possible menu.
What do you think of his pricing? Will you pay nearly RM25 for 3 sticks of Satay encased in deep-fried, crispy skin?
