“No promotion for you if you turn a blind eye to all corruption at work.”

Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim reminded all the heads of departments at government offices today (June 10), and said there’s no such thing as “being unaware of the ongoing corruption.”

“This thing has been going on for years. It’s impossible for you not to know about it,” PMX added.

If you’re turning a blind eye to all corruption, it’s not just about saying goodbye to that promotion that you’ve probably been eyeing for. You’re bound to get punishments, which have yet to be decided. The form of punishment will be decided by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia (KSN) and the Director General of Public Service of Malaysia (KPPA).

“You’re mad when your grandkid steals a pencil, but not millions of ringgit?”

During a meeting this morning, Anwar reminded all civil servants that everyone should carry out their duties to prevent corruption and wrongdoings, and said that the situation may have changed or improved a little, but corruption in the offices is still happening.

And PMX took the time to compare the situation at home and work.

“You’re not happy when your grandkid steals a pencil but when millions of ringgit are stolen at work, we ignore it.”

Anwar also highlighted that the responsibilities to curb corruption don’t just lie on the shoulders of SPRM but also on the HODs.

What do you think of this? If HODs are ignorant about the corruption and wrongdoing at work, should they be banned from getting promoted?
