National women’s bowler Natasha Mohamed Roslan has recently ended Malaysia’s 53-year wait to become the first Malaysian woman bowler to win the International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Cup.
According to the results website, the 28-year-old beat Germany’s Birgit Noreiks 217-166, 226-169 in the women’s individual final, held at Kowloon, Hong Kong. She had defeated Singaporean Daphne Tan 244-196, 213-216, 187-181 in the semifinals.
Natasha had previously won the 2023 World Bowling Championship in Salmiya, Kuwait, and the women’s team event in 2017 in Las Vegas, the United States making her recent win her third world title.

Following her triumph, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated her on becoming the first Malaysian woman to become a world champion.
“Great! Really extraordinary! Natasha Roslan made history by becoming the first national women’s bowler to win the World Cup. We are all proud of your achievement.”
Meanwhile, Anwar also congratulated Muhammad Rafiq Ismail for winning the silver in the men’s individual event.

He also prayed that both their successes would inspire others to bring glory to Malaysia in sports globally.
