Naughty students will always, one way or another, have their own method of cheating in the exam. Be it bringing in a cheat sheet or simply whispering with friends, or sitting strategically at the blindspot of the hall, students are certainly creative when it comes to trying to score better.

The emergence of these photos uploaded by Malee Kawsanthia on his facebook timeline (Sept 26) swept the whole online society in Thailand by a storm due to the unique sight of a large group of students in Rajamangala University of Technology Isan’s hall wearing motorcycle helmets for a test.

It gives an impression of a very funny yet practical and hardcore way to prevent cheating during the test.

Reported by the Daily News Online, the picture caused a lot of assumptions and criticism online.

Turns out, it wasn’t a cheat-proof tactic after all.

Responding to the uproar caused by the pictures in social media, the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Technology of the university, came out with a statement to clarify the issue.

The students were part of a campaign called the “100% Helmet AIT RMUTI” where the students were encouraged to wear helmets when riding bikes for safety purposes as the students hardly wear them.

Anyway, it wasn’t really worth the uproar as they were only required to wear the helmets for 15 minutes throughout the attendance checking process before the test starts.

The university also added that the students have their share of responsibility on the campaign by giving their full cooperation.

The statement continued:

“We live in a society that focuses on unity. Different but not divided. We should know where our obligations lie and what we should do. We apologise for the misunderstanding.”

Still, people on the internet were obviously amused.

We managed to screenshot their comments but mind you, they were originally in Thailand and Google auto-translated it so.. Some of it would be a bit wonky.

This would fly as a joke but on a serious note, something as crazy as this happened before. So, you can’t blame the internet for thinking it’s real.
