There are many benefits to repurposing things, from reducing waste to saving money. On top of that, repurposing can breathe new life into old items.

For instance, Penggerak Komuniti Muda – PEKA took to their Facebook page to showcase how they had repurposed old phone booths in Penang, by transforming them into mini libraries!

They wrote, “Penggerak Komuniti Muda (PEKA) has taken the initiative to give abandoned telephone booths a face lift, into mini libraries for the public. This measure can instill an interest in reading among the people of Penang.”

These mini libraries provide books in various languages, and they’ve also included Penang Monthly magazines and Buletin Mutiara newspapers for the people to keep up to date.

People of the public are also allowed to take books home with them, but be sure to return the books when you’re done reading.

And to those who worry that these libraries may be vandalised, fret not for they’re located right outside a police station!

“A word of appreciation and thanks is extended to the Penang City Council (MBPP) who also worked together to make this old telephone booth renovation project a success,”.

“Come on, stop by and make the most of this facility!”.

Anyone who wishes to donate books or have any questions in regards to this can contact Mr Adam Lester at +6011-24095881.
