Most of us have seen plastic mineral bottles, sweet wrappers, junk food packets and a lot more in the streets when we’re driving or walking. The rubbish on the roads creates issues like blocked drains, and it’s generally just not nice lah.

Now, littering from the car can actually get you fined.

Polis Diraja Malaysia shared in their Facebook page that littering from your car can get you a maximum fine of RM300 under Rule 52 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/1959).

In a post shared by PDRM on 15th July, they explained that littering is bad, not only because it pollutes the environment but also because it’s dangerous for other drivers, motorists and pedestrians. They emphasised that it’s incredibly dangerous because it can endanger people’s lives and cause road accidents.

PDRM advised road users to collect their trash in their vehicles first and then throw it in a rubbish bin when they stop to rest.

Next time, you might want to think twice before you feel like throwing rubbish out of your car or motorcycle. Please be considerate towards other drivers, motorcyclists and road users because that one piece of trash thrown out of your vehicle can endanger their lives.

Also why pay a RM300 saman when you can treat yourself instead?
