PDRM in Melaka Nab 1 Local & 5 Thai Women for Offering Sex Services Through MiChat App

6 women were arrested in Melaka by police for allegedly offering sex services.

The police team from the Gambling, Crime and Secret Societies Division (D7) of IPK Melaka worked alongside the Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Melaka Tengah to conduct an ongoing operation known as Ops Noda Khas.

In a recent Facebook post, Melaka Police wrote that the arrest was carried out on the 31st of March by the collaborative divisions after inspections were carried out at two hotels in the area.

5 among the arrested women were Thai citizens believed to have overstayed their visit to Malaysia while the other 1 is a local woman.

Police have confirmed that the 6 women are aged between 24 and 42 years old. Further investigations revealed that the women charged their clients between RM150 to RM250 for their services.

Interestingly, the women would bait in their clients using an application called “MiChat” on their phones.

They are all currently detained under Section 372B of the Penal Code for suspected engagement in prostitution activities and if found guilty, they may face a maximum sentence of one year in prison, a fine, or both.

The 5 Thai women are being investigated for possibly overstaying in accordance with Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act, which if found guilty could result in a sentence of up to 5 years in prison, a fine of at least RM10,000, or both.
